Our practice consists of well known Registered Midwives, who remain committed to providing exceptional maternity care within Kelowna. We aim to provide holistic and client-centered care to our clients.
Our Philosophy
At Ponderosa Midwives, we share a common holistic midwifery philosophy that is centered around personalized, continuous care for all families during pregnancy and postpartum.
Midwifery in BC
In BC, Registered Midwives offer primary maternity care to healthy pregnant people and their newborn babies from early pregnancy, through labour and birth, until about six weeks following delivery. We practice evidence-based, client-centered maternity and newborn care and are an established part of the BC healthcare system.
Choice of Birth Place
Ponderosa Midwives withhold key foundational elements of midwifery care which include choice of birthplace. We continue to provide home birth as an option for healthy, low-risk and local clients, as supported by the Midwives Association of BC (MABC), BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC).
Regardless of your choice of birth place, we provide evidence-based information about either option and ensure we have time to address any concerns or questions you may have.
